Stamford, CT – July 15, 2008 – Purdue Pharma L.P. enthusiastically supports the enhanced Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals recently published by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).
PhRMA represents the country’s leading pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies, which are devoted to inventing medicines that allow patients to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives. The PhRMA code was first introduced in 2002 to ensure that marketing practices would not “interfere with the independence of a healthcare professional’s prescribing practices.” The revised PhRMA code, which takes effect January 2009, includes more rigorous guidelines to ensure that pharmaceutical marketing and promotional practices comply with the highest ethical standards.
