Purdue Pharma’s J. Alan Butcher Honored with 2016 Top Blacks In Healthcare Award

alan butcher-webSTAMFORD, Conn., April 22, 2016 — Purdue Pharma L.P. today announced that J. Alan Butcher, Senior Vice President and Head of Licensing & Business Development, has been recognized as one of the 2016 Top Blacks in Healthcare by BlackDoctor.org (BDO) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions.

Alan is responsible for Purdue Pharma’s business development strategy as well as managing the valuation, negotiation, and execution of licensing deals and company acquisitions. Throughout his career, Alan has overseen product candidate and delivery technology development; P&L management; and multiple high-value transactions.

“Alan’s track record of success is invaluable to Purdue at a time when business development is a core strategic area,” said Mark Timney, President and Chief Executive Officer. “He’s a true leader, and we congratulate him on this prestigious award.”

Alan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Clinical Microbiology and a Master’s of Arts degree in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Genetics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He also is a graduate of Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Alan is one of 24 honorees who received the Top Blacks in Healthcare Award at the 3rd Annual BlackDoctor.org Top Blacks In Healthcare Awards Gala in Baltimore on April 21. The award honors some of the nation’s most accomplished healthcare leaders who have made outstanding contributions to medicine and health.
